How To Fix If Microsoft Outlook Not Working In Windows 10 Universal Mail App?

Have you installed Windows 10 Universal Email and Calendar app on your PC? If yes, then I would like to know if it is working properly, or your MS Outlook is opening in the normal manner or not. The reason I want to know all this is because many people are facing issues with their MS Outlook mail after installing this app. After going through various forums and other websites, I have been able to find a solution for this problem, which we are going to discuss in this blog post.

Undoubtedly, Windows 10 Universal Email and Calendar app is a high beneficial app that gives full access of emails, calendar and other programs to users. The company, which has launched the app has a clear motive, i.e., this app is going to offer a lot of convenience to people whose professional lives revolve around emails. But, this app became a big issue for the people because they can no longer access their Outlook account because of the technical glitches of the app.

What most people are seeing while opening their MS Outlook account is a message that says something like this, “The account settings are out of date.” Alongside this message are two options, which are; Fix and Dismiss. In order to get rid of the problem, many people clicked ‘fix’, but that was nothing more than a deception because nothing happened after they clicked on that option. It was a blank window that displayed on their PCs for a couple of seconds and the same message was flashing back again. People are desperate to find a solution for the problem because Outlook mail is important to them, and as it is not functioning properly, then all of their work has been put into a stand-still mode.

This problem can be resolved by following a few steps, which we are going to discuss here below, so stop any other work if you are doing any, and concentrate on the steps below :

The first thing that you will have to do is determine the location where the app is installed. The reason being, the installation folder is the place where the problem lies, so you need to delete a folder that is named something like this, “Localappdata/comms/”. But, before you delete it, you must create a backup in order to avoid any issues later on.

Here are the steps to resolve this issue :

1. You have to go to start menu and open Amin Powershell prompt.
2. Right click on the option and click the option that says, “run as admin”.
3. After you do it, you have to uninstall the application for which you need to enter the below-mentioned command.
Get-AppxPackage | Where-Object -Property Name -eq 'microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps' | Remove-AppxPackage
4. After entering this command, restart your PC.
5. The folder, which we discussed in the post must be deleted now. In order to remove the folder, here is the command that you can enter.
Remove-Item -Path "$Home\AppData\Local\Comms\" -Recurse –Force.
6. After you do all these things, kindly install the app. It would be better if you could download the fresh copy of the app.

The problem will be resolved with these steps, but if it doesn’t and you are seeing the message on the screen, then you must contact the email experts because only they can help you get rid of the problem. You can easily find experts online to whom you can explain the issue and get the ideal solution. But, I truly believe that the above-mentioned steps are effective and will eradicate the problem.

What Is The Process Of Configuring An Email Alias?

So, you want to know what email alias is, right? Well, this is the right time to know about this concept, which is not at all new, but you can say that many people were not aware of this. The importance of email alias can be determined from the fact that you may require an alternative email address referred to as email alias at some point of time. Therefore, you must know the exact details as to what email alias is and how you can benefit from it.

Let me simplify things for you. You have an email address that you use on a regular basis to send and receive emails from your known ones. You have created that email at that time when you were new to the internet. We all have created emails that are somewhat hard to remember (if not by us, then definitely by others). But, the thing is that if you decide to create a new mail, then it wouldn’t be possible to transfer all the details from that previous email to this new one. You can try if you want, but you will keep reminding things on regular intervals that you forgot to add in the new mail. So, that idea is completely flop. A better alternative would be to have a mail, which is easy to remember. The main thing is to connect both, you old mail and new mail together in such a way that messages from old mail get forwarded to this new mail. This will help you in getting all your emails to this new mail ID, plus you can also send mails from this new mail ID with your contacts being able to recognise that it’s you.

I think you have understood the point of how email alias works. Your new email is your email alias and in order to make it work with your older email, you will have to configure it. If you want to know the steps to configure both your email accounts, then here they are:
  1. Launch your internet browser and open your email.
  2. You have to find an option by the name of ‘customise your mail’. Select this option followed by selecting ‘sort new mails’ option.
  3. Once you select these options, you will have to delete ‘allow new emails to go to corresponding folders’.

How You Can Enable Email Alias So That You Can Easily Reply Your Known Contacts?

I am assuming that you have heard about Thunderbird identity functionality. You have to use this to enable email alias to become your reply-to address. Below-mentioned are the steps that you can follow to do so.
  1. Go to Thunderbird account settings and select your main ID.
  2. Then, click ‘manage identities’ option followed by ‘add’.
  3. Add those names that you wish to associate with email alias.
  4. After that, you will see the option named ‘email address’ in which you will add email alias and ‘reply-to address’.
  5. You have the option to configure a number of other options such as messages, reply quote and encryption.
  6. Click on ‘OK’ button twice to finish the process.
Storing Emails In Different Folders In Email Alias

You can make a custom folder to store all your emails instead of keeping them in the usual inbox. Every email provider has its own different set of options, so you will have to find out the settings that will lead you to creating a new folder, where you can store all your emails. If you are unable to create new folders, then you must take the help of email help and support providers.
